When you hear an incredible, new song and want to know the name so you can share it with friends, you turn to Shazam. But you might not know that you can do this through Snapchat; it's built right. If there's a song playing nearby that you don't know, you can use Snapchat'sShazam feature to quickly learn the title and artist. You'll then have the option to view it in Apple Music or Spotify.

Once you begin scanning songs, you'll be able to find a list of all the songs you've identified within your Snapchat settings.

How to Shazam a song on Snapchat

1. Open Snapchat on your iPhone or Android, and stay on the camera screen.

2. Press and hold your finger on the camera screen while music plays in the background. Snapchat's Shazam feature should be able to pick up the sound using your device's microphone, and will show a moving cycle of music notes and icons as it listens.

This icon will appear where you press your finger.

3. As soon as Shazam recognises the song, a pop-up will appear with the cover art, song title, and artist name. Tap the 'Listen' option to open a music streaming app, or the 'Song Info' option to view more details. You can also tap the three dots in the upper-right corner to share or send the song.

Once the song is identified, it will appear on screen.

4. On the information page, you can play a preview of the song, or scroll down to see the song's lyrics. Swipe down to close the window.

5. You may also find the 'Song Finder' option on your camera screen, among your filters. This Song Finder works the same way as using Shazam normally, and will give you the same results.

Once you've Shazamed a song, it will be added to a list of all the songs you've identified. To find that list:

How to see a list of songs you Shazam'd on Snapchat

1. Open Snapchat and tap your profile icon in the upper-left corner.

2. Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner of your profile page to open your settings.

Open the Settings menu.

3. In the Settings menu, scroll down until you find 'Shazam' on the list. Tap it.

Open the 'Shazam' menu.

4. This will open a list of all the songs you've Shazamed recently. Scroll through the list and tap on a song to view its details, or swipe the left to tap 'Delete.' This will remove it from the list.

You can delete songs off your Shazam list.

  1. Open the Shazam app and swipe up to access the library.
  2. Tap the settings icon at the top left corner. Ensure your device is connected with Apple Music.
  3. If it’s already connected, beneath will be the option to Sync Shazams to Apple Music.
  4. If it’s on, your Shazams will be auto-listed in Apple Music. You can choose to turn it off to stop auto-syncing.
  5. The Shazam’d songs can be accessed in the library section of Apple Music titled, ‘My Shazam Tracks.

Delete Shazam songs from Apple Music

  1. Open the library in Apple Music.
  2. Tap My Shazam Tracks.
  3. Slide right to left the song you want to delete to unveil the ‘Delete’ option towards the right.
  4. Tap to confirm.

How to play Shazam music with Spotify using iPhone

You need to first connect your Spotify account with Shazam to play songs. Here’s how to do so.

Connect Shazam to your Spotify account

  1. In the Shazam app, go to the library section (swipe up the screen).
  2. Tap the Settings icon located at the top left corner.
  3. Now tap ‘Connect’ next to Spotify.
  4. Tap Open to confirm. This will redirect you to the Spotify app.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the following window and authenticate by tapping Agree.
  6. The following window will bring you back to the Shazam app seeking permission to sync your Shazams to Spotify.
  7. Tap ok to confirm.

Turn off Auto-syncing your Shazams to the Spotify app

  1. Swipe up to access Shazams library.
  2. Tap the settings icon.
  3. Turnoff the toggle in front of ‘Sync Shazams to Spotify.
  4. Tap turn off to confirm.

Now that you have connected Shazam with Spotify, you can listen to your Shazams on Spotify. Let me show you how;

  1. Open the Shazam app and select a song from the library by tapping the playbutton. This will only play a 30-second preview.
  2. To listen to the complete song, tap the Spotify button next to it.
  3. Tap open to confirm your action.
  4. Also, to play your Shazam tracks directly from Spotify, tap Your Library > select My Shazam Tracks.

  1. Open the Snapchat app and long-press the camera screen while listening to a song in the background.
  2. Tap the play icon and select the app to play your music (Apple Music in my case).
  3. You can also tap more info. This will open Shazams info page of the song. Here again, you’ll have the option to play a song using your preferred app.

Use Shazam Online

  1. In the Snapchat app, tap your profile at the top left corner.
  2. Now, tap the Settings icon at the top right corner to reach settings.
  3. Scroll the settings page to locate Shazam.
  4. Tap to access your list of Shazam’d songs.
  5. To delete a song from the list, long-press and hit Delete.

Listen to your Shazams on Deezer

Like other apps, you can open Shazam on Deezer by tapping the three vertical dots next to the song in the Shazam library and selecting Open in Deezer.

How to buy songs you’ve identified with Shazam

Tap the three vertical dots to open options and select Buy on iTunes to purchase a song identified on Shazam. Follow the instruction to complete the payment.
